Since 2006 we've expanded from 15 villages to 75 — addressing women's livelihoods, children's education, and climate-resilient farming through community engagement, not top-down delivery.

Activities

Skill development across six trades for income generation, loans to women in small business, and training on business management skills.

Increased access to vocational skills for rural women, and growing business activity alongside rising income.

03 / Farmers

Farmers Empowerment

Restoring Nature

Activities

Promotion of sustainable agriculture among small and marginal farmers through training, extension support and formation of a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO).

Outcomes

Farmers gained knowledge of sustainable practices to apply on their own farms, and now take collective steps toward bank loans and government schemes.

Child Protection

Reconnecting Children with Learning

Activities

Identifying school dropouts and other vulnerable children in the area, then helping them continue their studies through educational support.

Outcomes

Prevention of child labour among vulnerable children, who now continue studies through middle and high school level.

Climate Education

Building Resilient Communities

Activities

Awareness campaigns, community sessions, and seedling-planting drives across our working villages.

Outcomes

Communities more aware of climate impact and resilient actions, with expanding green cover across the area.

Community Development

Activities

Started in 2006 across 15 villages of Vadamadurai block, with community engagement on education, healthcare and civil management.

Outcomes

Reach has expanded over the years to more than 10,000 people across 75 villages, alongside sector-focused work for women, farmers and children.

What this work has already achieved

2009 – 2018
Federation of SHGs

140 SHGs united into "Amuthasurabi," a federation managed by SHG women with cluster and area-level coordination.

Ongoing
Revolving loan support

Members receive ₹10,000–20,000 business loans at 1% nominal interest, repaid monthly and revolved to new members.

2020 – 2022
Covid-19 response

Essential food materials delivered to around 800 families over 21 months, ensuring food security through the crisis.

2021 – 2023
Farmer producer company

70 small farmers gained access to loans and improved their marketing and income through a new FPO.

Where we're growing next

💰 Livelihood promotion

  • At least 250 women supported every year with revolving loans
  • Loan sizes increasing up to ₹30,000 per woman

🌾 Farmers empowerment

  • Revolving loan system to support 120 farmers for cultivation, livelihood and marketing
  • A seed bank to preserve indigenous seeds and promote organic farming

🌍 Climate education & action

  • A Resource Centre as a hub for climate learning and community sessions
  • Training 100 farmers a year in water conservation, agroforestry and climate-adapted, organic farming

🎓 Skills & education

  • A skill centre offering short-term certificates matched to local market demand
  • At least 250 women and youth trained yearly in vocational and business skills
  • 40 tuition centres coaching at least 1,000 students every year
